Who operates Scrye
Scrye is made by BATHBLOOPS LTD (company number 17401627, registered office 8 Cleveland Road, Hale, Altrincham, England, WA15 8AY), trading as Bloop Software. BATHBLOOPS LTD is the data controller for the information described below.
The short version
Scrye the app stores everything on your own Mac and never sends your financial data anywhere. Scrye the website and license system handle only what's needed to sell you a license and email you a key — your name, email, and payment, processed by Stripe. Neither ever sees your account balances, holdings, or debts.
What the app collects
Nothing, in the sense most apps mean it. There's no analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, no account system. Your accounts, balances, holdings, debts, and forecasts are stored in a single SQLite file on your Mac and never transmitted anywhere. The app makes exactly three kinds of network call, all of them necessary for it to function:
- Live share prices — an anonymous public lookup by ticker symbol only. No account identifier is attached.
- UK house price index — anonymous public data from HM Land Registry, used to benchmark property.
- License verification — once, when you first activate the app (and again only if you choose to deactivate a device), your license key and a device identifier are sent to our license server to confirm the key is valid. After activation, this result is cached locally and the app works offline indefinitely.
What the website and license system collect
When you buy a license, Stripe (our payment processor) collects your email address and payment details to process the transaction — we never see or store your card details ourselves. Our license server stores:
- Your email address, to send you your license key and for support.
- A one-way cryptographic hash of your license key — not the key itself — so we can verify it without being able to reconstruct it from a data breach.
- A Stripe reference for your purchase, so refunds and disputes correctly revoke the right license.
- Device identifiers for up to two activated devices, so we can enforce the two-device limit on each key.
The website itself sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics.
Who we share it with
Only the services that make the purchase and delivery work: Stripe (payment processing), Resend (sending your license key by email), and Fly.io (hosting the license server and this website). None of them ever receive your financial data from the app — that never leaves your Mac in the first place. We don't sell data to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it
Purchase and license records are kept for as long as your license is valid, plus a reasonable period afterward for accounting and fraud-prevention purposes. You can ask us to delete your email address and purchase record at any time — your license key will stop working if you do, since we'd no longer be able to verify it.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@scrye.co.uk. Since the app itself holds no data about you on our end, most of what you'd ask for concerns your purchase record, not your financial data.
Children
Scrye isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If this changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted here for at least one release cycle.
